Week 3
Kia ora team. PLD will be in direct reflection and unpacking of Student Voice data from 2013 and 2014. Overall the student voice data in 2014 was very pleasing and there was a significant improvement in areas such as 'takes time to get to know me', 'is enthusiastic and positive about teaching' just for example. There were many other really positives that came from the student voice survey. However in comparing a trend that happened in 2013 it would be logical to address the statement 'i feel students in my class display respect towards each other" there was a significant drop in this area in 2013, Term 2 so I hoping we can prevent this possible Term 2 drop by being proactive, circle time/class meetings/Get to know me/fist of five on feelings at the start of the day.....(how to do these activities are on our weebly resources page).
During PLD we will go through a power point around Restorative Circle Time and also discuss 'best practice' that is already going on in classrooms. Attached under Blog Term 2 Circle Time there are a couple of articles to read and make PMI statements about.

How do we create a culturally inclusive learning environment?
What are you doing to integrate things Maori in your classroom?
How can we implement authentic whanaungatanga, rangatiratanga, manaakitanga, kotahitanga and pumanawatanga into the classroom everyday?
Teaching Channel: An interesting video based on a student giving evidence that she is ready to graduate to college, however, I wondered if this might be a spring board for thinking about Year 8 and their transitioning experience. https://www.teachingchannel.org/videos/success-portfolio-defense-eed?utm_source=Teaching+Channel+Newsletter&utm_campaign=3dcb7f2411-Newsletter_May_24_2014&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_23c3feb22a-3dcb7f2411-291225369
LwDT:
Literacy Shed - many fantastic ideas to promote writing and visual language. The youtube video attached Oktapodi will link a bit with this week's whakatauki. There is a irony in this video and the whakatauki that would be fun for the students to discuss.
